In order to attend a University in USA, every Indian student must obtain a student Visa USA from the nearest U.S. Embassy.

Visit an approved HDFC Bank branch in order to pay the Visa application fee
Ensure that you have the I-20 form issued by your University in U.S., and that you have paid I-901 fee online through the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website.
Further, you need to fix your appointment for your U.S.A. student visa through VFS website, for which you would require your DS-160 barcode number and the HDFC fee receipt. While appearing for the interview, you need to take some documents along, which are explicitly mentioned on the website of the U.S. Embassy.
After you interview, you shall wait for the results of your visa. There are two possible outcomes apart from being approved, and they are – postponement of your visa or refusal. If you Visa is postponed, you shall wait for further response or action, or you can contact the consulate.
Alternatively, if your visa is rejected, it may be disheartening but you have the option to reapply for your visa. As, USA does not provide the option to appeal the case, you shall have to reapply by paying the visa processing fees again and schedule another appointment. It is advisable that you must apply for your student visa USA well in advance (at least six to twelve months) of the commencement of your studies. This is because, the process is time consuming and if the case arises for reapplication, you need extra time by your side to avoid unnecessary delays in your studies.
